This year’s State of The Union address given by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, was definitely highly anticipated.
A few of the highlights from the State Of the Union address were, when D-day Word War II veterans, Private First Class Joseph Reilly, Staff Sgt. Irving Locker, and Sgt. Herman Zeitchik were honored. Apollo 11 astronaut, Buzz Aldrin and Alice Johnson who became a minister during her time in prison, were also honored.
Another highlight from last night’s SOTU, was the fact that the democratic women in congress were wearing white outfits to honor the Women Suffrage Movement. Some of them also wore an ERA (Equal Rights Amendment) button in support of the equality of men and women, with the hope of it being passed as a law.
President Trump also spoke on the fact that unemployment is at an all time low for both men and women. Nearly 5 million Americans have been lifted off food stamps, now that our treasury is receiving billions of dollars due to taxes imposed on Chinese goods. The President also made sure to emphasize that he will get the southern border wall built, simply because, “Walls work and walls save lives.”
President Trump also spoke on what is to happen in the future of the U.S, stating that:
“Congress has 10 days left to pass a bill that will fund our government, protect our homeland, and secure are very dangerous southern border,” He went on to say, “I am asking the Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb. I am asking the Congress to pass legislation that finally takes on the problem of global freeloading and delivers fairness and price transparency for American patients.”
We can all agree that overall, it was a message of unity to the nation.
