Fans of legend, Albert Finney, are in mourning as the British-born actor dies at the age of 82.
According to a family spokesman , “Albert Finney, aged 82, passed away peacefully after a short illness, with those closest to him by his side. The family requests privacy at this sad time.” The actor announced that he was getting treatment for kidney cancer in 2011, but it is unclear if it was the cause of his death.
The actor was known for his outstanding performances in classic movies like the 1970 “Scrooge” as Ebenezer Scrooge , billionaire Daddy Warbucks in “Annie”, Ed Bloom Senior in Tim Burton’s “Big Fish” and Winston Churchill in BBC-HBO series “The Gathering Storm.”
Over the span of his career, Finney won the British Academy Film Award (BAFTA), Golden Globe Award, Emmy Award and Screen Actors Guild Award (SAG). The actor had also received several nominations for the Academy Awards.
Albert Finney is sure to be remembered by the legacy he left behind in the movie industry, as well as his only son.
