The 61st Grammy awards was definitely one to watch on Sunday night. However, no one expected rapper Drake to appear, much less be cut off! 😱
The “In My Feelings” rapper, won the Grammy award for Best Rap Song last night, for his hit song, “God’s Plan.” The 32 year-old then collected the award on stage where he shocked everyone with a very deep acceptance speech.
“We play an opinion based sport, not a factual based sport. You’ve already won if you have people who are singing your songs word for word, if you’re a hero in your hometown.”
He continued, “If there’s people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain, in the snow, spending their hard-earned money to buy tickets to come to your shows. You don’t need this right here, I promise you. You already won. “
Fans of the artiste then erupted on social media, clearly upset about Drake’s speech seemingly being cut short without the typical “playoff” music, and then being sent straight to commercial.
If you recall, Drake along with Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande and
Childish Gambino had all declined to perform at music’s biggest night. No one expected either artiste to show up.
Still, this was quite a surprise to all and I think I smell a beef 🥩. Don’t you? 😏😂
