Over the past few days, actress Ellen Page, has publicly demanded actor, Chris Pratt, to address the fact that the church he attends, Zoe Church, is allegedly anti- LBGTQ.
The Canadian actress expressed herself in a world-wind of tweets. Page’s tweet read, “If you are a famous actor and you belong to an organization that hates a certain group of people, don’t be surprised if someone simply wonders why it’s not addressed. Being anti-LGBTQ is wrong, there aren’t two sides. The damage it causes is severe. Full stop. Sending love to all.”
The 31 year old continued to express herself, pleading with Pratt by saying, “If LGBTQ+ people are expressing their pain, their trauma, their experiences…maybe just try and listen? Open your heart, stop being defensive and have compassion.”
After a series of tweets, the “Guardians of The Galaxy” star finally responded on Instagram, insisting that his church does not discriminate and that they have helped him, judgement-free, throughout his divorce. He also said, “My values define who I am. We need less hate in this world, not more. I am a man who believes that everyone is entitled to love who they want free from the judgment of their fellow man.”
As you may know, this public disagreement began after Chris shared his spiritual side with late night talk show host, Stephen Colbert.
It was then, that Ellen “called him out” for attending an openly anti-lgbtq+ church, that had clearly stated they, “Do not affirm a gay lifestyle and because of this we do not knowingly have actively gay people in positions of leadership, either paid or unpaid.”
At least, we now know where the newly engaged actor stands. 😌
