As the next United States election approaches, more and more former employees of President Trump’s Administration seem to be headed to jail. One of them is political consultant, Paul Manafort.
According to several news outlets, Manafort will be sentenced on Thursday after being indicted on five counts of tax fraud, two counts of bank fraud and one count of failing to disclose a hidden foreign bank account; two counts of conspiracy. The 69 year-old faces up to 25 years in prison for eight felonies which consists of hiding millions overseas, cheating the U.S. out of millions in taxes as well as defrauding the banks that lent him the money.
If you don’t already know, Paul Manafort has been in a series a trials and indictments for his part in the “Russian collusion”. He was first arrested in 2017 by the FBI after being indicted by a federal grand jury as part of the investigation into Trump’s presidential campaign.
Afterwards, he pleaded not guilty and paid his bail of over $11 million in real estate. Manafort then switched gears a little, by filing a lawsuit against FBI Director, Robert Mueller, authority for allegedly violating the law in the Justice Department. It was later dismissed.
Paul Manafort has been on the “chopping block” for quite some time. The only question to ask is… who will be next?
