Actor and singer Jussie Smollett, appeared in court today where he took a not guilty plea to 16 counts indictment charge.
The 35 year old arrived at in the Cook County Courthouse in Chicago, where he and his defense team took the decision to maintain his innocence, amid all the controversy. Jussie was told by the court that he’ll be allowed to travel, but only to Los Angeles and New York for meetings with his lawyer.
Smollett is also required to notify the court 48 hours before travel to either location. He also needs to let the court know when he has returned to Chicago, in the span of 24 hours.
He is set to be back in court in April.
As you may already know, the “Empire” actor filed a police report in early January, which stated that he was attacked by two white “MAGA” supporters. He claimed that the two men tied him in a noose, poured bleach on him, badly beat him and hurled homophobic slurs at him.
The authorities have since redirected the investigation with Jussie being the suspect. They came to the conclusion that Jussie may have actually staged the attack on himself because he was unsatisfied with his salary.
With 16 disorderly conduct felony counts, we doubt that this will be over any time soon. So…stay tuned as the story develops!
