Jussie Smollet may not be the only one without a job in the near future as FOX announced earlier today that the upcoming Season, 6, will be the show’s last. That’s not the worst part for Jussie though, as he is not even sure to return for the final season.

There’s an option to have Jussie return to the series, but there’s no plans for it as for now” said Charlie Collier, FOX Entertainment Honcho.

The decision to possibly not have Jussie’s character, “Jamal Lyon” return was taken last month shortly after we thought all the dust surrounding his alleged ‘attack’ had settled. The dust, apparently, is still blowing as he was sued by the City of Chicago for allegedly staging the attack and wasting thousands of dollars in investigations. Jamal Lyon’s season 5 ended, on the hit show, with him sailing off into the sunset after his wedding. โ›ต๐Ÿ–

The “groundbreaking cultural phenomenon” had an excellent run with Taraji P. Henson; Cookie Lyon and Terrence Howard; Lucious Lyon at the helm. The stats showed it growing every week in ratings reaching new highs but was then pummeled by low ratings and controversy surrounding the January 29 incident which involved Smollett.

Jussie should not be blamed for the cancellation as there are many factors that came into play. Although having secured more seasons than do many series, it’s ending is reportedly mainly due to the impact of streaming services and delayed viewing.

I guess that’s how ‘Cookie’ crumbles.
