The 73rd Annual Tony Awards was held at the Radio City Music Hall, in New York and was hosted by none other than British comedian and talk show host, James Corden. As many of you may already know, the Tony Awards celebrates Broadway productions and performances, as well as regional theatre.

During last night’s ceremony, some of the biggest names in Broadway and Hollywood walked away with a couple of prestigious awards. Among the awardees were, Bryan Cranston who took home the award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play, Elaine May for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play, Santino Fontana for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical, Stephanie J. Block for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical, Celia Keenan for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play, Bertie Carvel for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play amongst many others.

The Tony Awards was definitely not the only thing on a lot of people’s minds, as social media was on fire with comments on everything; from the red carpet outfits to James Corden’s fabulous opening performance.

However, one of the most talked about moments was Bryan Cranston’s dramatic speech where he said,

Finally, a straight old white man gets a break.Who wants to keep working with old white men? That’s boring and the stories are old and stale to me.He even commented on the media saying, The media is not the enemy of the people. Demagoguery is the enemy of the people.”
