No one can deny that Serena Williams is the greatest of all time (GOAT). However, despite making it to the finals at the Roger’s Cup in Toronto this weekend, Williams could not deliver the win she wanted for her fans.📷 Rogerscup Instagram

It has been reported that Serena Williams is nursing a back injury, which caused her to retire in the finals at the Rogers Cup this weekend, in Toronto.  Many fans (myself included) were anxiously awaiting a Serena victory in the finals at Rogers Cup. We just wanted to see her go all the way and win. However,  that signature winning twirl was never came at the end. Instead we witnessed the GOAT in excruciating back pain.📷 Rogers Cup Instagram

Sixteen minutes after the match began, Serena could no longer continue due to back spasms.  It is not uncommon for an athlete to be plagued by injuries and spasms, in their late thirties. Canadian champ Bianca Andreescu can be seen comforting Serena, after she called for a medical timeout, saying,”This wasn’t the way I expected to win. You are truly a champion. “📷 Rogerscup

Nevertheless,  Bianca is the first Canadian to win the tournament in 50 years.
Serena on the other hand also felt the pain of the loss by telling fans,”I’m sorry I couldn’t do it today. I tried but couldn’t do it.”📷 Rogers Cup Instagram
No worries Serena, we love you and even if you never play or win another tournament, you remain that female tennis player that every other female athlete wants to be like, to determine their greatness.  You are the GOAT!!!
