Film maker and media mogul, Tyler Perry made history this weekend as he officially opened his brand new studio in Atlanta,Georgia. It is a historic move for Perry as he becomes the first black man to do this. What is even more impressive, is the fact that he owns this state of the art 330 acres studio, outright, no partners, no corporation. The studio even has it’s own highway signs. This is impressive.
It was a star studded affair! Several black A list actors and media personalities were in attendance. From Tyler’s close friend and confidante Oprah Winfrey and her partner Stedman, Gayle King, Denzil and Pauletta Washington, Will and Jada Smith, President Bill and Hillary Clinton, Beyoncé and Jay Z, Diddy, Ludacris and wife Eudoxie, the cast of The Real and the list goes on.

Tyler also paid homage to many legendary Black film makers, actors and producers by naming his sound stages after them.These include, deceased film maker John Singleton, actress Dihann Carroll, Oprah Winfrey, Denzel Washington, Will Smith, to name a few.
One of Tyler Perry’s leading stars Tika Sumpter took to social media to express her pride in her boss by saying,
“Bigger than Paramount, Warner Bros and Walt Disney combined. Let people underestimate you, just keep walking y’all. So proud of you TP!”
Many others in attendance shared how special the occasion was for them. Film maker Ava Duvernay also shared how proud she is of her friend and colleague Tyler, on her Instagram.
This was a weekend long celebration for Perry and his A list guests , who all flew into Atlanta for a weekend long celebration, from a red carpet event on Saturday evening, to a gospel brunch on Sunday morning. Many in attendance expressed that they were left in awe and inspired to dream bigger after witnessing the genius of Tyler Perry.
This historic studio will no doubt boost Georgia’s economy, by bringing increased employment to Atlanta and surrounding cities. Congratulations Tyler Perry, you are not only making history, but you are also bring jobs to the ATL. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏽
