Hey Friends ❤️
Here is your Daily Power Note From Basia.
We are often taught to admire sacrifice.
Work harder.
Push through.
Say yes.
Stay late.
Take the opportunity.
Do whatever it takes.
But I think we need to be very careful with that phrase:
“Whatever it takes.”
Because sometimes the price is too high.
An opportunity is too expensive if pursuing it consistently requires you to betray your health, your values, your family, your peace, or your relationship with God.
That is not success.
That is self-abandonment.
And the two are not the same.
There will absolutely be seasons when growth requires sacrifice.
You may need to work longer hours.
You may need to spend less.
You may need to say no to certain comforts.
You may need to stretch yourself.
But sacrifice should not become permanent self-neglect.
You should not have to destroy your body to prove you are ambitious.
You should not have to compromise your values to prove you are serious.
You should not have to neglect the people you love to prove you are committed.
And you should not have to move so fast that you can no longer hear God clearly.
Sometimes we become so focused on getting the opportunity that we stop asking whether the opportunity is actually good for us.
That matters.
Because every open door is not automatically your door.
Every profitable opportunity is not necessarily aligned.
Every promotion is not worth taking.
Every partnership is not worth accepting.
Every room is not worth entering.
The question is not only:
“Can this make me successful?”
The better question is:
“Who will I have to become to maintain it?”
Will you become healthier?
More disciplined?
More peaceful?
More aligned?
Or will you become exhausted, resentful, disconnected, and constantly unavailable to the people and values that matter most?
Success should expand your life.
Not erase you from it.
And I think this is especially important for those of us who are driven.
Ambitious people can become very good at overriding their own needs.
We tell ourselves:
“Just one more season.”
“I will rest later.”
“I will reconnect with my family when things slow down.”
“I will make time for God when this project is finished.”
But sometimes later keeps moving.
And if we are not careful, we can build the life we thought we wanted while becoming disconnected from the person who wanted it.
That is too expensive.
TODAY’S POWER MOVE
Think about one opportunity, goal, or responsibility you are currently pursuing.
Ask yourself:
“What is this costing me?”
Look honestly at:
My health.
My peace.
My values.
My family.
My faith.
If the cost is becoming too high, ask:
“What needs to change so I can pursue success without abandoning myself?”
Maybe you need a boundary.
A different schedule.
More help.
A slower pace.
A conversation.
Or permission to walk away.
TODAY’S POWER LINE
Success should not require self-abandonment. If achieving something repeatedly costs you your health, values, family, peace, or relationship with God, the price may be too high.
Build boldly.
Work hard.
Dream big.
But make sure the life you are building still has room for you.

P.S. The goal is not simply to become successful. The goal is to become successful without losing yourself along the way.
